The most important city of the country: with 5 million\u00a0inhabitants and located in the south, near the Gulf of\u00a0Martaban, Yangon is the most important city of Burma. Considered one of the highest concentrations of temples\u00a0and Buddhist pagodas in the world, with more than 2000,\u00a0the city of Bagan, previously called Pagan, was destroyed\u00a0by the troops of the Mongol emperor Kublai Khan in 1287,\u00a0finally being abandoned. Washed by the Ayeyarwaddy River,\u00a0which crosses the country from the north, the best examples\u00a0of its architectural greatness are the temples of Swezigon,\u00a0Dhammangyi and Ananda.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
