Ha Noi<\/h2>\n

Hanoi is the country\u2019s largest city, with a population of just over\u00a07 million. It was considered one of the most important cities of\u00a0the region in the Middle Ages building the first university in the\u00a0country and classical temples from the Chinese domination period.\u00a0Currently, rides through the streets evoke French colonialism,\u00a0interspersed with large communist constructions surrounded by\u00a0huge lakes and the Red River.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Halong Bay<\/h2>\n

Halong Bay means: the dragon that came down to the sea…\u00a0There is an old legend which says that a dragon jumped into the\u00a0water, falling wagged his tail and struck the earth causing this\u00a0deep valleys and crevices… Legend says that the dragon is living\u00a0at the bottom of the bay. It was declared a World Heritage Site\u00a0by Unesco in 1994. It is also one of the seven natural wonders of\u00a0the world since November 2011.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Hue<\/h2>\n

Former imperial capital, where its citadel was similar in size and\u00a0style to its homonymous of Beijing, currently retaining different\u00a0places which have been considered a World Heritage Site by the\u00a0UNESCO, primarily by monuments, like the mausoleum Khai\u00a0Dhin or the enclosure in which are located the tombs of King\u00a0Thu Duc.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hoi An<\/h2>\n

Located along the Thu Bon River to the South China Sea, the\u00a0ancient \u2018\u2019Faifo\u2019\u2019, like the French and Spanish called it, was\u00a0considered one of the most important ports throughout Southeast\u00a0Asia during the 16th and 17th centuries. This attraction, led to\u00a0many Japanese, Chinese and other nearby countries to settle\u00a0in what is now known as its old town, also considered a World\u00a0Heritage Site by UNESCO, due to the large houses, temples and\u00a0streets that remain from that commercial era.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Saigon<\/h2>\n

Always associated with the war, Saigon was the name chosen by the Vietnamese\u00a0to call the city of Khmer Preah Nokor which had the most important port of\u00a0the Kingdom Khmer (now Cambodia), after its annexation to Vietnam during\u00a0the 17th century. Later, after being the capital of the region of Cohinchina\u00a0and South Vietnam following the war in Indochina, and the final union of\u00a0Vietnam, the city was renamed as Ho Chi Minh City in honor to the ideological\u00a0leader that led the country to the independence, and to the system which\u00a0rules today. The city still retains its commercial importance, and in many\u00a0commercial aspects, is even more important than the capital of the country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sapa<\/h2>\n

Sapa is town and district in the province of Lao Chai in the\u00a0northwest border of Vietnam. It is one of the main market towns\u00a0in the area where ethnic groups like the Hmong, the Dzao and Tay\u00a0live. The access to this mountainous area includes an overnight\u00a0train from Hanoi to Lao Cai. The visits in the area are designed to\u00a0hiking and to meeting ethnic minorities that live in the different\u00a0surrounding valleys.\u00a0A new road from Hanoi to Sapa has been opened in 2014 and it is\u00a0posible to reach this area by car in around 5 hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
