Hpa An, the capital of Kayin State, is located on the east bank of the river Thanlwin, around 270 kilometers from Yangon. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with rice fields, rubber trees and giant mountains. We recommend a 2 hour walk to the top of Mount Zwegabin, 725 meters above sea level and from which some great views of the city can be enjoyed. This area of Burma is also famous for its caves. A visit to the Kawgone cave decorated with thousands of Buddha images is also recommended.For mountain lovers, Hpa An is a great extension. It can be combined with a visit to Golden Rock as the city is only about 2 hours away from Mount Kyaiktiyo.
