Mrauk U

Hidden by the advance of the jungle, in a small mountainous territory near the border with Bangladesh and within the Rakhine state, lays the town of Mrauk U. Mrauk U is accessible only by boat from Sittwe, in West Myanmar. The village is mainly characterized by its art and architecture and the remains of Buddhist temples, which includes the Pagoda of 80,000 Images (so named because of the number of Buddha statues there). It could qualify as a city, with some similarities to Bagan. There are fewer temples in Mruak U and the area is less explored by tourists which poses advantages and disadvantages.
