Putao

The unique and historic Putao is considered the most important town in Northern Myanmar. Putao is located within the Kachin state and built at the foot of the world’s highest mountain range, the Himalayas. Access by road is virtually impossible, so it is necessary to arrive by plane from Mandalay with a 15 minutes technical scale in Myitkina every Tuesday and Friday. The biggest interest in the area lies in its natural landscapes and mountains and above all, the possibilities as a destination for adventure, based on the Malikha Lodge. Likewise there is a great variety of ethnic minorities, mostly Lisu and Yawar, who have lived there for hundreds of years, when the area was called, “Hkamti Long”, which in the local language means, “Great Place of Gold”..
